Call back home

The taxi driver came to Dubai since he had too many debts to pay back at home. Vyom does not know if the driver really hoped to earn more money in Dubai, but looks like the driver's financial situation was pretty bad. He had not called home- his wife and children -for four months. Before he used to call once in a month, but now he is not able to do that. The cab reached where Vyom had to. Vyom asked for the driver's home number. Vyom dialled the number in his phone and the driver talked to his family for the first time after all these months. As he finished the conversation and returned the phone, Vyom says the driver was crying, repeatedly saying 'No one else would have done this for him... he never thought anyone would do something like this for him...' Pretty moved, of course he would have been, but he never said "that too an Indian." I don't think from his house in Pakistan he could see the so called line that separates him from India, or the kids in Pakistan from those in India. Anyway he did not draw that line. Vyom didn't, for sure. This is a true story, in case you wanted to know.
