Once upon a time there wandered two drummers on the musical landscape of Hudugitata (aka India). John roamed around with his famous Progressive Rock Caravan, “Motherjane”, while Nirmal rendered contemporary world music colours to Balabhaskar’s Fusion Band. That is when they went fishing. They baited the prey of experimental music and waited for the catch. First catch; they pulled the string. Here comes Montry. Whats he holding there? Yeah he is juggling, juggling his dual passions of music and designing. He beats the djembe with his band Swarathma, while offering design solutions for design firms. “What is the sound of fingerless guitaring?” What? Oh…Aaah the Monk. Come here… Shyam the Monk, is an IITian who decided to pursue his interest in music and related fields; beauty in general. That is what they all did together… They made this place a better world to listen to, when they grew yellow and blue lilies of experimentation and freedom on their frontyard of musical discipline, watered through the years from childhood.
John, Nirmal, Montry plays drums, djembe, a percussion rig and an assortment of sound makers, along with which Shyam plays his guitar and sings in different tongues. Band plays different styles in hitherto unused combinations creating an ambience of expectation and curiosity. One may find themselves listening to a Carnatic singer’s rendition of “Hips don’t lie” while the rhythm reminds one of the beaches of Honolulu…
